Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Skhoolme Adaptive Learning Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the platform. Users under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian agree to these terms on their behalf.

2. Description of Service

Skhoolme provides an adaptive learning platform that personalizes educational content for learners across academic subjects and trade skills. The platform uses AI-powered recommendations to adjust content difficulty, format, and pacing.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information during registration and keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the platform, including but not limited to: sharing credentials, circumventing safety mechanisms, submitting harmful content, or using the platform for purposes other than education.

5. Intellectual Property

All platform content, including curriculum, assessments, and AI-generated materials, is the property of Skhoolme or its licensors. Portfolio documents generated by learners belong to the learner and their guardians.

6. AI Features and Their Limits

Skhoolme uses artificial intelligence to generate lessons, practice questions, explanations and recommendations, and to power the AI tutor. AI output can be incorrect, incomplete, or inappropriate for a particular learner, and it is not reviewed by a human before you see it.

The AI tutor is not a teacher, and it is not a substitute for licensed instruction. It does not supervise a learner, it cannot be relied on for the accuracy of any particular answer, and it must not be used in place of a qualified educator where one is required — including where your state or country requires licensed instruction or supervised instructional hours for homeschooling.

Our assessments are not professional educational assessments. The onboarding diagnostic, reading level, grade band, mastery scores and any recommendation derived from them are informal signals used to personalise content. They are not a psychoeducational evaluation, a diagnosis of any learning difference or disability, an IQ or aptitude measure, or a placement decision of the kind a school or professional evaluator would make. They must not be used to diagnose a child, to decide a child does or does not need professional support, or as evidence in any educational, medical or legal determination. If you have a concern about a learner’s development, consult a qualified professional.

Accommodation settings (such as read-aloud, simplified text or extended time) are conveniences you choose. They are not clinical accommodations, they are not a substitute for an IEP, 504 plan or professional recommendation, and selecting them does not mean Skhoolme has assessed a learner’s needs.

7. What We Collect and How Long We Keep It

To provide the service we collect: the account details you give us (name, email address, and for a guardian-created child account, a username and password set by the guardian); what you tell us during onboarding (grade level, learning context, state, subject interests and learning preferences); your activity on the platform (lessons opened, quiz answers and scores, time spent on questions, progress and streaks); the content you create (notes, bookmarks); your conversations with the AI tutor; and technical records (IP address, browser information, and security and audit logs of significant account actions).

We use it to run and personalise the service, to show progress to a learner and to their guardian or tutor, to keep the platform safe, and to meet our legal obligations.

We share data with the service providers we need to operate — including AI providers who process lesson and tutor requests, payment, email and messaging providers, hosting and database providers, and error-monitoring services. They may process your content in order to return a result to us. We do not sell personal information.

When an account or learner is removed we mark it deleted immediately and remove personally identifying information within 30 days. Security and audit records, and anonymised aggregate data that cannot identify a learner, may be kept longer. Our Privacy Policy governs where the two documents differ.

8. Learners Under 18

A learner under 18 must be enrolled by a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these Terms on their behalf and is responsible for the account. A learner in an early grade level cannot hold a standalone self-registered account; a guardian must create it and add them.

Guardians are responsible for supervising their learner’s use of the platform, including the AI tutor. Our safety measures — age-appropriate filtering, trade-safety limits and content guardrails — reduce risk but cannot be guaranteed to catch every case, and they do not replace adult supervision.

A guardian may review, export or delete their learner’s data, and may withdraw consent, from the guardian dashboard or by contacting us.

9. Limitation of Liability

The platform is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any content or AI output will be accurate or suitable for a particular learner.

Skhoolme does not warrant any educational outcome. We do not guarantee academic progress, grade advancement, test performance, credit recognition, admission, employment, or that any portfolio, transcript or record generated here will be accepted by any school, district, state, employer or licensing body. Homeschooling requirements differ by jurisdiction and you are responsible for meeting the legal requirements that apply to you, including required subjects, instructional hours, assessment and record-keeping.

Trade and vocational content is for educational purposes only. It does not replace professional training, licensing, apprenticeship or certification requirements, and it must never be used as instructions for performing hazardous work. Do not rely on this platform for the safe performance of any real-world procedure.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Skhoolme is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost opportunity or educational loss. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, you may request export of your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
